FOLK PROJECT SPRING FESTIVAL WORKSHOPS

WORKSHOPS ON MUSICAL TECHNIQUE OR INSTRUMENT The Bluegrass Band Gestalt (Straight Drive) The interplay and dynamic that makes for good bluegrass. Bluegrass Mandolin (Ben Fraker) Bob’s Cheap Guitar Tricks (Bob Franke) Techniques on the guitar that add depth and variety to your playing quite out of proportion to their difficulty. How to Improvise in 3 Easy Notes (Frank & Hank & Bill) For musicians & non-musicians. Vocalists are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate. Songwriting from the Center (Bob Franke) A 2-part session. On Saturday, participants will be given songwriting assignments with some tips and ideas discussed. On Sunday, participants will sing the fruits of their labors with commentary from Bob and the other participants. |

Sign-up procedures TBD Book Sing – (Bill Cox) Using Rise Up Singing, the popular lyrics book. If you have a copy, bring it - there'll be some to share. Gospel (Margaret Crowl) Our traditional Sunday morning session. Bring “Rise Up Singing” if you have a copy. Jammin’ with Frank and Hank and Bill Here's your chance to have that backup band you always dreamed of having. Bring a song and we will be your backup band. Music for International Dance (Anne Bies & Amy Ksir) Learn the songs for the dance session that will follow. Fiddling, Cape Breton Style (Sonas) The ornaments and tunes that characterize this unique style of fiddling. English Country Dance (Loretta Holz) International Dance (Ann Bies & Amy Ksir) Swing Dance Basics Plus! (Mark Schaffer) Learn the basic six-step swing dance, some groovy moves and cool style pointers. Swingin’ Tern Dances (Melanie Axel-Lute & Sonas) Dances written for, about, or by members of the Folk Project’s home dance. New England Northern Style Squares (Peter Blue & the Avant Gardeners) Squares for contra dancers. |

LATE NIGHT GROUP MUSIC SESSIONS Jams [Unmoderated] Primarily instrumental music jam. Almost everyone plays together. Round Robins [Moderated] All present may in turn sing a song, in some cases request a song, or pass. A moderator keeps things going. Songwriter Session [Unmoderated] A session focusing on participants doing their own material. |

Bring your tights. ** Candle Making (Camp Staff) Come make a candle to light up your life. ** Climbing Wall (Camp Staff) If your daily grind has you doing it, or not, come do to here. Computer Recording Session (Ken Galipeau) We’ll record a song, mix in backup instrumentation and harmonies, and do other recording tricks. Computer Mixing Techniques (Ken Galipeau) Using the latest computer technology to mix what we recorded. ** Face Painting (Elizabeth Lachowicz) ** Fire Starting (Camp Staff) Fire from friction or how to make the most of one match. Improv the Royal Academy Way (Sharon Peters) Get in touch with your inner actor and your outer ham. ** Low Ropes Course (Camp Staff) [Trading Post] How agile are you? Please be on time. Mountain Biking (Sandie Reilly) Over hill over dale we will ride the dusty trail. ** Outdoor Cooking (Camp Staff) [Kittatinny Lodge] Apple Cobbler is on the menu. ** Riflery (Camp Staff) For those who don’t have or want to wear tights. ** Swamp Walk (Camp Staff) Watch out for the quick sand!
